Arrow Transmission Shifting question

I've read many posts and several adjustment procedures, but this seems to be a little different.....

'81 240D

Seems to actually shift better when cold. I just replaced the filter and fluid - went with Mobil 1 ATF - and yes, I drained the torque converter It still does the same thing as it did before the fluid/filter change.

After it warms up slightly, it wants to almost skip 3rd gear and go right to 4th. I say almost because it will for a split second seem to go into 3rd and then it goes right to 4th. It will do this more frequently when I am accelerating slowly to moderately. If I accelerate somewhat hard it will not "skip" past 3rd gear, but shift normally. If it is just started and still cold it does not usually "skip" past 3rd, even when accellerating slowly, but once warmed up, it shoots right past 3rd.

There does not seem to be any "flaring" between gears, it actually shifts decently. Before I started to diognose I thought I'd question the group for suggestions. Any ideas?

I wonder if this is some kind of epidemic. I had posted a question just like yours not too long ago. See the following threads:

Tranny almost skipping 3rd / shifting to 4th early on '85 300D

Transmission flare fixed! (K1 spring kit)

Mine skipped right into 4th when my air cleaner came off under the hood... and for some reason I lost all my turbo boost when that happened. The car was real real slow in accelerating and was acting very strange, so I made it home, checked the scene under the hood and found the dismembered air cleaner housing, replaced all the mounts and then it was all fine again. Thats the only time I ever had the strange shifting issue.
