valve adjustment ?

I am adjusting the valves on a 300D 1981. The problem is, i cannot figure the increments they are using in my manuel. I have asked tree different people including mechanics, i have gotten three different answers. Here is the numbers. I am used to thousands. Intake: 0.10mm-o.0039in. exhaust:0.30mm- 0.0118. Could somebody convert this to the closet thousands, so i can use my feelers gauges, that i understand. Thanks

Yago,

0.0039 in ~ 0.004 inch (intake)

0.0118 in ~ 0.012 inch (exhaust)

I like to use go and nogo gages, therefore I use 0.003" and 0.013" for go gages and 0.005" and 0.015" for nogo but I use 0.014" for nominal on exhaust. And I keep the go gages on the loose side.

Hey,
Does it matter which make of vehicle were talking about here?
Turbo or non turbo?
Hot or cold adjustment?

If you are going to maintain a MB the easiest way to convert inches to mm is to go to your local parts shop, spend $2 and get a set of metric feeler gauges.

I use a metric set on domestic cars and a standard set on European cars. Being able to do the conversions just makes me feel better about the three years I spent in the fifth grade!!!
