Inj. Pump Vacuum Valve

I need a little help, if anyone has data. I just replaced the Injection Pump Vacuum Valve (transmission) on my 300sd. All is well except that when I disconnected the linkage between the valve and the injection Pump the nylon retaining clip broke, and they say age doesn't matter, I am having trouble finding the part number for the clip, or a source. I spoke with Phil at Fastlane, he didn't have a part number. I spoke with the local Mercedes dealer and they show the picture of the part in the drawings but no part number. The local dealer said that they have placed a call to Mercedes but don't have an answer. This is the only thing that stands between me and the open road. Help?

be both friendly and persistent in locating the # from the dealership. Some times it takes a little while but keep at it. In the meantime, fashion a temporary retainer with a wire twisty and get on that road. Even if your temporary retainer breaks the linkage might stay in place and even if it disconnects it will just make your shifts hard.

I did the same thing last week while removing mine for inspection. I used one of those platic zip ties for the repair. If you find the part number though, post it as I will order one. I found Mercedes has a "Classics Center" in Jersey that may be able to help 866-622-5277

How much did you pay for your Vacuum Control Valve? Where did you buy it?

I bought mine from FastLane, I figure that it will help support this site, besides Phil seems to be a good guy. Paid exactly one small fortune $188.00.
If I will post the # on the clip when I find it.

Sent a PM but I am not sure if rathole posts here any more.

Anybody have an idea how to attach this clip to the linkage without breaking the clip? You can't seem to slip it over the bend from the topside.

Thanks
Doug

top. i need to do this, and if i break it, it would be nice to have a replacement. also instructions on how to attach it would be appreciated.

Just did it, and it was much easier than I expected. Now I actually popped the linkage off the the ball it was attached to - downwards toward the engine block - but I don't think you actually need to do that. Before taking off the broken clip, examine it for proper orientation. The broken clip slips easily off and the new one slips easily on from the the top - even around the bend. If you have trouble navigating in the tiny space, it might help to take off the VCV valve (white plastic with two 5mm allen bolts) and slip it on that way. Last resort, pop off the linkage. Getting the linkage re-attached was a tiny bit of work that required a long flathead screwdriver and some leverage on the Injector pump to pop it back on the ball. Careful not to break something while forcing it on.
