W124 Strut Mount Replacement Procedure (w/pictures)

This past weekend I replaced both strut mounts on my '91 300D. Although some articles in the Wiki were helpful, I did not see this procedure posted so I wrote it up:

http://motorheads.net/benz/strut_mounts/

The pictures are uncompressed and around 150kb each - I will try to reduce them later when I have some free time, but at the moment I'm getting sleepy. Hope this helps someone out.

Nice job.......

I think it was worth the half hour diagnosis to tell you that you had a real issue.....

Uh, like I said, I'm kind of new to these cars so I've never tried that. You would almost certainly have to remove the wheel which would necessitate another jack under the control arm. My guess is that it would take a different procedure and quite a bit more work to replace the strut.

Pictures have been reduced in size by 2/3. Should load much faster now.

Thank you, and yes I agree. I learned something, so it was worth the money.
