OM606 internal differences
So far I've heard a lot of rumor and innuendo about the differences between the turbo and non-turbo OM606's. Obviously, there's a lot different externally. Internally, though, are they actually different? If so, what specfically? Hypothetically, if a guy needed to replace his block or his head on a turbo 606, and he had access to a non-turbo 606, could it be done?
Much thanks to the giver-of-the-answer. gmbowen 1983 landcruiser FJ60 w/OM617 |
*edit* I had bad info

The block and head I believe are the same. The pistons are different to withstand the greater cylinder pressures. The compression is the same and there are also oil jets to keep the pistons from burning up....
