Thrust Arm Replacement
I have done some serious reading this afternoon on the above subject and have a couple of questions. I am planning on replacing my worn thrust arms this weekend and need to know if there are any special tricks I need to know about before I get knee deep in this project. I understand the axles need to be horizontal before tightening down the new ones, but do I have to remove the springs and such before I start?
I guess I am a glutton for punishment because this will be the second weekend in a row that I will be venturing into unknown (to me) territory. Mike |
Ok I buy. What is a "thrust arm" in a W123. I am not familiar with this name. Since I have completely rebuilt 2 W123's suspensions maybe you can give us a hint as to what part you are refering. We will gladely help you.

The part I was refering to is also called the torsion bar if I am not mistaken. I tackled this job this past Satruday without incident. Thrust arm is what Performance Products calls this part, thus me refering to it by this name. As i understand, there are several different names for all of the parts in the rear suspension of this car. Why so many names is beyond me.

Yes I am. I have never seen any of these parts on the rear end of a 123. My life would be much easier if the 124 didn't have them either. Not that any of the parts have been especially hard to replace, but there's just one more thing to go wrong on an aging car.

Ahhhh
I was thinking of the W123, My mistake. I see the W124 listed. Glad you got it done. Dave |
