Wow. Now this is the stuff. Great info guys. I'll see if I can find a 220D eldow somewhere to make my connections. That's just the sort of insider information I was looking for. having a boost gauge is no problem. What is max boost that we can handle? I'm guessing I'll have to adjust the waste gate. How much boost does the turbo put out when everythig is stock?

As far as oiled filters vs. paper.... I guess it all just comes down to personall preferance. Personally I like a bigger paper filter. Driving in and around Houston I constantly runn across construction. So there is a lot of dust around.

keep it to under 14 psi unless you use an intercooler................but keep in mind anything about 10 or 11 psi gains you nothing without additional fuel being added via the IP thru modifications.

welll... I'll let you all know when and if the 300SD goes bang. I just finished >2000 miles in 11 days, flat out on the highway running WVO. K&N filter on a 3" elbow, stock oil separator (cut from the stock housing) with the air/mist into the elbow ahead of the turbo. Boost at 14/15 max, ALDA turned CCW one full turn. Car has 329k on it and is basically a toy so I thought I'd try the filter. Bottom line...I've got to enclose that filter in the corner behind right headlight - not just to keep it breathing cold air but to cut down on the noise. That growl and whistle are fun for awhile, but 6 or 7 hours straight will make you deaf!

I think any performance gain is minimal and agree that larger exhaust concurrent with improved intake flow is necessary. Toys are no fun if you can't play with them!

I also have a catch tank for any oil that makes it past the seperator on my car. Then it vents into the tube like most of the rest of you have done.

Could everyone that's running an open air filter please post the filter brand and part number. I've been looking for filter elements on the Bladwin site and haven't had that much luck. I'm looking for one that has a neck on it so I can put a clamp on it. I have seen a few cross referance charts for other brand filters that I can use. I just need some part numbers.

Thanks.

I will never use a Baldwin filter again, since they chose to not respond to my complaint about poor quality on their "MADE IN INDIA" oil filter.
I am running a K&N RU-1000 on a 300TD, with a 240D separator, a picture is in the 'Forum somewhere. Next thing I want to do is find a larger exhaust (someday!)
