dash lights stay on, fade, light up when ignition is switched off 300d
replaced ignition switch still lights stay on when switched off, if I press brake pedal they'll click on and off! what the heyll!
|
Hmmm
Sounds like a wire short.
Do you have rodents??? |
Check the emergency flasher switch. My 300D started bugging out one night. As soon as I turned off the car and pulled the key out all the dash lights and buzzers came on. Turned out to be short in the e flasher switch. Power goes directly to it from the battery not through the ignition switch...
i hope that hepls.Good luck |
Confused
Quote:
What lights stay on? #1. Ilumination = running lights. #2. Turn signal. #3. Warning lights = ABS, charge, etc. |
dash light grems
I pulled the e flasher switch off, still lights stayed on, I think it has something to do with the brake pad wear sensors due to the fact that if I depress the pedal they will go out or dim. If those wires that clip in dowm by the pads ground on something ( or not ground) could this have something to do with it?

low battery light, brake lights, glow plug light, and needles on guages rise all happens with key off and pulled out of ignition.
|
Crossed wire???
Do you have an after market stereo or CD player, any modifications to factory wires???
|
totally stock becker mexico, they go off when I depress the brake pedal, it would do it before, but you would have to sit there and make sure the lights slowly got dim and went out, or the battery would be dead next morning. Glow plugs staying powered I guess. But now they will not go out at all except when I depress brake pedal. Could the brake light switch be the culprit somehow?

Hmmm
That sounds like a power back feed through a shorted diode.
|
where may I find such a diode?thanks Hunter

If the fuse for the automatic climate control amplifier is disconnected this is the only way everything will shut off. what do you benz freaks think is going awry here?
|
got it! something in the headlight switch, guess I'll replace it, ashame I just hauled the parts 300d to the scrapyard. thanks for the input fellas!
|
Most likely a ground or shorting problem. But let us know if the switch fixes it.
