we've got an S65 sitting at work, still with the tape covering it waiting to get its new car inspection. For the $182K they want for it, I'm not even going to go near that thing!

What I want to do eventually is a 617-T into a 108/109. I saw a non turbo in one once and drove it, it was sweet.

I'm dreaming of a new 2005 Cummins ISB-4 (4BT) with a 6-speed manny-tranny.

3.9L 170hp and 325ft-lbs. Chipable, swap on a Garrett VGT turbo (None of that Holset cr@p.) and bring it to 220-240hp. *drool*

Speaking of VGT, I found that Crysler used a Garrett VGT25 on the89-Shelby CSX, and some 90 2.2T Dodge Shadow/Daytona and 90 Crysler LeBaron's! One may be too small for a 3L diesel but with twins....

I don't thing the engine bay is long enough for a 617.........but remember a writeup for the 4 cylinder swap

There's a guy I was talking to a couple of years back that's got a 616 in one of these. I've never actually seen a Niva but I guess they're not all that uncommon in Canada. Here's a link to an old site he had with some pictures.

cummins

the new cummins since 03 has the common rail injection and it is very quiet... for a diesel.

I've seen them in Italy...........around 10 years ago.....haven't seen any running in years however, and I spend a month a year there every year..

they are not physically very large.

Would very much like a 603 turbo in a 70s or 80s Rolls Royce Silver Spur or Corniche, or really any Rolls. Preferably a white one. Is that doable? Looks like they have a pretty big engine bay. I'd love to have a Rolls but wouldn't want to deal with servicing the engine. A nice 603 or 617 would make it perfect. The interior on those things is like a palace ...

I actually had the goods to build this, but in my usual tendancy to overthink, and overengineer the project, it went by the wayside after a back injury - a Suzuki Samurai with a VW diesel engine.

I had the goods to do the swap, but didn't want to be saddled with a 55 mph top end. I was going to get hold of a Sidekick transfer case, and swap its guts into the Samurai case. It was doable as it was a common swap to put the Samurai guts into the smaller Sidekick tcase with only having to file down a small portion of the inside of the case. Of course this was more money, more parts, and no time. When I got hurt, all the stuff got sold. Man how I wish I hadn't gotten rid of that stuff.

swaps

1. the diesel into the sl would be an unhappy thing. first i think you will find that the diesel is a lot heavier than the al v8, second, the hood line is too low to clear the inline engine...well maybe not on that one, it was made with the 280 engine in europe.

2. the diesel magnum...YES... i would definately buy one of those especially with a six speed manual. i am hoping in a year or so it will be available... there is hope... they are offering the jeep liberty with a mb 4 cyl turbo motor next year, i hear.

3. the rolls thing, well i think that the simplist thing on a rolls is the motor. i believe it is basically a copy of a 366 cubic inch chevy engine but with an aluminum block. it is all the other fiendishly complex sub systems that would give problems... not very expert on rr but have read a little and such.
