This is just horrific!

That's what we got to do to keep these diesels going - takes lot's of cash :D

rg2098 05-12-2005 05:32 PM

How much is it going to cost for us all to chip in and pay to keep the car withOUT a billboard paintjob?

pawoSD 05-12-2005 05:40 PM

My guess is no one is going to bid/go through with it....especially at the price he is asking. If he does all that stuff, and totals it (horrible thought but it could happen) a week or month later, how does he reimburse the person that paid all that money for the job on it?

TX76513 05-12-2005 05:45 PM

He lives in Ohio - maybe somebody like RUSTOLEUM would be interested

BusyBenz 05-12-2005 06:00 PM

Maybe RENT-A-WRECK would be interested in putting their logo on there!

whunter 05-13-2005 12:01 AM

Hmmm

A good paint job is $3K or more.
He gets the other car paid off.
A new stereo.

If anyone accepts his deal, he makes out very well. :)

I commend this fellow. Currently in our age of debt, the average person would agree to accept one of the millions of credit card offers that come in the mail and would max that bastard to the limits to get his new tires, stereo and paint job. This guy is willing to sell something he owns to pay for these upgraded (his pride) BRAVO!

That is MY car you see on the eBay listing,,,,,

I'm a little surprised you guys have found such an interest in the listing i posted on eBay to advertise on my benz 300sd. i do like the thought of a good old fashioned discussion has taken place about it, however, there were a few inaccuracies in a few of the posts i'd like to clarify...

there isnt a speck of rust anywhere on the car......
it has less miles than most of the cars you have been discussing,,,,,
and lastly, its MINE,,, to do with what i see fit, if i want to paint the thing orange and call it "mr. koolaid" thats my decision.
i do like the fact that you guys enjoy the diesel benz as much as i do but keep in mind.. there's no such thing as losing your pride, identity or respect for yourself by making your car unique. i think you would all agree that 'if the owner is happy with his vehicle, then nobody else really has the right to put him (or his car) down. dont any of you guys remember doing something crazy on a whim?

something so nuts just because you knew it would cause a reaction that you would get a kick out of?

it doesnt mean i love my diesel any less than you guys, it just means i perhaps enjoy cuasing a reaction with my car a bit more.
if you disapprove so much of my car becoming a rolling billboard, start a collection and paint it yourself, or even better. buy it to "save" it from it's owner. mercedes benz is about class. so have some and dont insult anyone for what THEY choose to do with THEIR benz.

but i AM enjoying reading about it. and please dont take anything i've said as anything but a discussion, i dont get my kicks arguing with anyone. just an attempt to add to the debate. thanks again cybertoothtyger1999@yahoo.com

Nobody here would ever think of doing something like that  :D

cybertoothtyger 05-13-2005 08:27 AM

yes they would...........

LOLOLOL, mmmmm, looks like rustoleum. them guys must be from ohio! =)

and to let you guys also know, i'm going to repost my listing if it doesnt sell and nobody wants to paint my car for their advertising needs. only this time...

the stereo wont be in the requirements and only half of the payoff. so i'll make sure that SOMEHOW someone will take me up on it. and i'll be sure to post a pic or two for ya of it. =)

stayalert 05-13-2005 09:12 AM

2 words:

Zero bids

pawoSD 05-13-2005 09:50 AM

I'm going to have to agree with those two words.....a company or person could advertise on billboards on city busses for ages for that much $$, and on several of them at the least.....around here you can have a 3'x5' mini-billboard with your ad put on the back or side of the city busses for like around $6 a day(Overall cost)......now, when you think about thou$ands....thats a lot of ad's, and a lot of busses......etc...plus they drive around ALL day...so its a way better way to effectively reach an audience.

We love our old MB's (well, at least yall do), but to most of the 'real' world, these are just old cars. If I see advertising on what I consider to be an old car, I'm not going to be chomping at the bit to buy the product of whoever painted their logo on said beater. My thought would be "Is this company so desperate that all they can afford to advertise on is an old car?".
We had local town elections last week, and there were some old 50's era Chevys and a couple of 60's Corvettes with the candidates name, but those are QUITE different than our old MB's.
And I think faded and peeling clearcoat looks better than having your car commercially pimped, but I'm an old, so my perspective is different.
Save up your $ before you buy your next car, and then you won't have to ask someone else to pay it off.
That is my portion of the "discussion". Good luck
