My '84 300SD recently stopped blowing any heat through the floor vents. All other heat, A/C, and vent functions are working normally. Any information would be greatly appreciated by my feet!

Flaps down there must not be opening. If you poke around under the dash near the transmission tunnel, you'll see the floor air control flaps. If you're somewhat mechanically inclined, you can fabricate something to hold the flaps open all the time (I had to do it once for a guy who didn't want to spend too much on his 400,000 mile SD--older fellow and a good customer in the past, so I owed him a "favor"). Now of course I must say that you really should properly diagnose the problem (vacuum system) but if you need some heat for the feet in a pinch, just rig a homemade jobbie for the time being. There will be time to rip that dash apart come springtime when the weather warms up!
