Question about blinkers not working...

The car is a 190D 5 speed (1985).... The hazard lights work but blinkers will not work.

Any suggestions ? thanks

I don't know if the wiring is laid out the same on the 190D as it is on my '85 300D. On the 300D, though, I've seen similar symptoms that seem to involve the switch for the hazard light. Switch it on, the hazards blink. Switch it off, the hazards stop blinking (but the turn signals are non-functional). Rock the hazard switch forward just a tiny bit, and the turn signals are fine again.

I suspect some funkiness in the hazard light switch. I haven't dismantled and cleaned it yet, but I've seen a procedure described here on the forum.

Look at the top of any mercedesshop.com forum page, click on the DIY button, it is there.

Have a great day.

I had a buddy helping me recently with that after I finally thought I had got the repair right. So I slid behind the wheel, and turned on the left signal while he watched from outside. "Stan, how's it look?" I said. Shaking his head, he says "working,..not working,..working,..not working,..working,..

I found the time to check my hazard switch yesterday, and did a little cleaning.

hazzard switch

i have seen some switches that get stuck half on, this will not allow the turn signals to work, try moving the switch back and forth several times and see if that helps
