Slow

I've been driving my 240D for the couple of days now and have already been flipped-off by a X-er chick in a Navigator talking on her cel phone, a wannabe ricer driving a 4-dr Neon with a NOS sticker in the window, a picnic-table sized wing on the trunk and a huge fart-can muffler and by a soccer mom in a Caravan with a load of kids.

I'm thinking about making a sticker for the bumper of Nellybell:

This car only has 67hp so deal with it!

Whaddya think?

I think you should get all the license plate numbers from their cars, and put them in the Texas Smoking Vehicle database website and pester them with letters. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Metro buses to report.

Nah, I'd be just a tad more crass:

Yes, I know I'm slow, and no I don't care what your I.Q. is.

Swine

The lack of common courtesy is a real problem. You don’t have to be driving a 240D. Just going 5 mph over the speed limit in a child infested neighborhood is cause for wrath from these insidious swine.

I take satisfaction when I overhear their complaints about fuel costs at the gas pumps.

Just wait until fuel hits $5.00 a gallon

I doubt that that group of "people" you describe knows what horsepower means.

Or if they do, they don't care if you are in their path.

I, for example, almost got my left arm severed when signalling a left turn in my neighborhood going 20mph. I was passed by someone going at least 40....

I like the sticker. I am trying to be more polite in my advancing age and mellow my natural curmudgeon demeanor. As long as you are driving n the slow lane, they have little reason to treat you badly.

and when they tailgate so menacingly, I get distracted. I forget to use my turn signals and almost miss my turn. Their front ends tend to do a curious nosedive and yet still their demeanor fails to improve. I just don't get it.

I haven't had problems with my 240D and moving in traffic...though when I got some bad fuel in the 300SD the other week, damn that car got slow.
Off the line acceleration was TERRIBLE and people hated me for it.

I just smile and wave...and after I make boost (or hit the power band in the 240) I pass them up still smiling.

They may have the gall to get angry, drive violently, and pass but I still have a car that I know how to handle in a corner, squeeze in and out of places, and drive 90+ MPH safely.

Annoying ricer in front of me coming back from the coast the other night...he would haul down the straight sections (fart can noise included) then when a corner came he would anchor his brakes before and THROUGH the corner (the roads we wet...bad move).
I would constantly be catching up to him on the twistys and he kept having to downshift to "prove" something...

I get tailgated a lot but generally, after the offending person passes me, I end up passing them anyway as I drive the same roads constantly and know the police hideaways. Some lady decided she wanted to brake check me coming down a long grade while I was following at a reasonable distance (larger than my normal following distance). I had to lock the brakes up to prevent giving her little nissan a rear end job...I smiled, waved, and pulled the phone and called the Newberg dispatch. Nothing invokes more fear than pulling a phone on someone who just did something very stupid...atleast around here..the cops are jerks.

Don't bumpersticker your 240D. I would just drive with a huge smile becuase unlike those people, you are out driving and you (presumeably) enjoy your car
The people you piss off will stress and shorten their life unessisarily while you grin back in responce to their 1 fingered salute.

Very nice,

I just emailed them to be prepared in the event that some Mercedes Benz owners may soon be contacting them. When I get my 300D turbo going properly and encounter a tailgater I will be testing my kickdown switch

It's Nell (see above). Scout is spending a couple of well-deserved weeks off, hanging out with her brother in San Diego. I get to drive Nellybell while she's gone.

Since you are calling it slow... maybe this would be a good time to see if the upgraded ( larger holes ) precombustion chambers can be put into that car ?
Every couple of horsepower helps on our cars...

Isn't this CLOSING DAY ?
