W210 issues - Glovebox Noise
 

My 1998 E300 Turbo has a few minor bugs that I would like to take care of.

The glovebox makes a horrible sound when it opens, and the ashtray and compartment below the radio don't open smoothly the way my 1991 300D did.

I know how to remove the glovebox and will do that and see what is causing the noise, but I am not sure how to remove the ashtray and compartment.
Any suggestions?

If I recall correctly.
 

Pull the ash can, remove the two screws.

Slide the assembly out.

I might have a new glove box for your 210 that may match your color if you decide to go that route as well.

6 screws hold the glovebox in. two facing you in the upper left and right corners, two on the bottom inside the box and two in the upper part, inside the box.

You should replace your cabin air filters while youre in there, theyre behind the glove box.
