I think I have a virus...
because all I want to do is work on the Benz. Take it all apart to see how it works, clean it up, anything. Sometimes I want to break things on it so I can fix them(though i wouldnt). I am sick.
I am also considering getting another Benz. Not too sure what I want yet, maybe a true 300D Turbo, not sure yet. I have also been looking at the 126's and maybe a 240D, althought I would rather the 5 cylinder than the 4.(Im in Texas, we have to have things bigger, lol). Maybe Ill go see a doctor..... :D |
You need to get the medicine you need now. It only get's worse
In fact it can even effect your sex life :eek: |
May I suggest you treat yourself to an SL roadster from the 70's or 80's? These are now available for very low prices, I have seen runners with issues advertised for $2500 and real good ones for $15000. You could buy one of those and keep it for a pet, treat it like an old maid treats her cat, when you have it gleaming like a jewel take it out to sports car events and old car events, or just go for drives on nice weekends. And in 20 year sell it for enough to make a substantial contribution to your retirement fund. I'm not kidding, look what happened to the price of every other Mercedes convertible. In the 1940's you could buy a 500K for a couple of cartons of Luckies, in the 1970s the best 300SL in the world was worth under $10,000. Both these cars are in the multi million dollar bracket now. I don't think the 380SL will ever be worth that much, there are too many of them. But look what they are asking for a good 190SL or 230SL. Not so long ago, these were going for $2500 to $5000 and they are still far from rare.
So buy the Mercedes roadster of your dreams.If you are kicking yourself for not buying a Duesenberg in the 60's or a Jaguar XK120 in the 70's here is your last chance to buy a powerful high grade convertible with real leather, real chrome, real steel and a real engine for a bargaiin price. Gold chains and bell bottoms optional LOL. |

I think I found a jewel.
The builder of my house has an 82-83 300DT. Only has 98,000 miles on it. He only drives it to the airport when he fliees his plane, other than that it is garage kept. He has all the papers on it since he bought it from the MB dealer in Austin , new. He says the only problem is that it is hard to start when its cold, which here in TX is rare, but new glow plugs should( its the best place to start) fix that. The great thing is that he wants to liquidate a few of his assets and will take $2500 for it!!. The car is in great shape, and I am not sure if I have seen one with less than about 120k miles on em. I think I will be taking a test drive in it this weekend and well as looking over it with a fine tooth comb. Hopefully on my way to a fleet of Mercedes. |

if you want to keep busy buy an R129
If you need to keep busy and want things to break often so you can fix them can I suggest you get hold of a well used R129, preferably not the V8 as they are too reliable. The interiors of the R129 should keep you busy every day replacing the bits that fall of in your hands. also you might find a six pot that needs a new head gasket and wire harness, better still make sure you get a 5 speed auto box as they throw up a few issues.
enjoy :D Keith |

[QUOTE=mbenzgoodyear;888826]I think I found a jewel.
The builder of my house has an 82-83 300DT. If your going too get into this you might as well learn what to call your car, theres no such thing as a "DT" in MBdieselspeak:silly: a TD is a "wagon" We see used car salesman calling turbo models "TD" which they think means turbo diesel:rolleyes: Like all those 240Ds with "leather". Heres a good site showing all the models http://home.hiwaay.net/~gbf/mbmodels.html An 80s diesel MB with under 100K might be a good find, grab it |
its called gearheaditis alot of us have it.. i think whunter has it the worse (or most??)
