Squatting when you put it in gear is a normal response....unless backing up then the rear rises.

I changed the diff mount on my SDL last weekend, the car came up about 1/2"

The fuel tank was at 1/4, with probably 60 lbs of stuff in the trunk.

The change was easy, just had to undo the sway bar mountings to get access to the two large bolts going into the diff.

I like replacing old worn out parts on my car as much as the next guy, but I dont understand how changing the diff mount on a full independent rear suspension would change your ride height? where the diff is mounted has nothing to do with the control arm or spring placement, thats why you have drive axles with joints at both ends, because the diff isn't part of the suspension at all, its just a gear box that hangs under the car that delivers power to the wheels. even if the diff was fully removed from the car, as long as all the suspension was intact the car should sit the same. granted the diff does way about 35 lbs. and on an independent rear, that is sprung weight, so you might notice a mm. or two if it was to be removed just because of less weight connected to the body.

The suspension on the rear of the vehicle is attached to a subframe. This subframe is resiliently supported at three points - two in front of the wheels and one in the middle of the car just behind the differential =>

If any of these mounts sag the ride height of the vehicle is changed.

{Think of it as an action of the body dropping onto the suspension}
