Door Handle Trouble - W116:

Recently, my drivers door handle just stopped opening the door. However, it can still be opened easily from the inside.

Today, the passengers door handle started doing the same thing. I verified the door locks are functioning correctly.

Is there an adjustment for this??? I haven't been inside the door on a 116 in years and I cannot remember.

Thanks in advance for your time and input...Bert

door problems

bert i have about 50 old cars that i am working on and that is a very common problem to find.i am a hill billy and found the fix,i do have difficulty describing things so bear with me.
take the door panel off, look at the lock assy and you will find a point on the lower right of the assy that has about a 1/4"xabout 3/8" long prong that recieves a lever from the push button.its easy to find if you push the button from outside and take a screw driver and help it(prong) a bit and the lock will cycle.what i do is take a short piece of hose, seems like i use the rubber fuel return hose(about 1/2" long) any will work if the inside diameter is small enough to be a tight fit on the prong. just slide it over the prong,i do use a little silicone sealant to assure it stays put.
try this it may be a fix,lol wont you be happy when i finally learn to use a digital camera and can post the pictures.
