Where does the block heater go in a OM616?

Can someone tell me, does the block heater go on the driver's or passenger's side of the block in the OM616 (240D) engine? I mean, where is the recommended location?

Thanks.

like the 617, I believe there is a threaded plug on the passenger side of the block. Just unscrew it .

Be prepared to sweat! Don't forget there is 23 years worth of gunk on the other side of that plug and on the back of it ! I finally had to use an airhammer to chisel mine out - but, keep in mind, the engine was still in the car and it is a V8 - lots less room to work around.

In god knows how many years, I've never broken one of those threaded bosses loose....even with the block out on the engine rack.

There's two heater kits sitting on the store shelf, waiting for the day !

2 foot Snap-On cheater bar 1/2 inch drive...

1/2 inch impact gun. Chisel point.

Acetylene torch....nadda !

Let me know if you do....I probably loosened it for ya a long time ago !

This august or september I am going to have the dealer do it I'm not even going to try, I'm going to have them adjust my valves and put in my block heater kit I bought a few months ago. Perfect prep for winter
