Where does the block heater go in a OM616?
Can someone tell me, does the block heater go on the driver's or passenger's side of the block in the OM616 (240D) engine? I mean, where is the recommended location?

like the 617, I believe there is a threaded plug on the passenger side of the block. Just unscrew it
 .

Be prepared to sweat! Don't forget there is 23 years worth of gunk on the other side of that plug and on the back of it
 ! I finally had to use an airhammer to chisel mine out - but, keep in mind, the engine was still in the car and it is a V8 - lots less room to work around.

This august or september I am going to have the dealer do it
I'm not even going to try, I'm going to have them adjust my valves and put in my block heater kit I bought a few months ago. Perfect prep for winter
