1966 200d

could some one tell me how many keys the 66 220d 110.110 car came with? i am about ready to fix the clock which means thats the last step,so am getting to the short rows.
my problem is neither of the front doors will operate with the ignition key or the trunk key. i see in the owners manual where there are 3 lines for one to enter the key numbers for furthur reference(ignition-trunk-doors)
any help would be appreciated.

Mercedes used 3 keys. There was a "valet" key that would open the door and work the ignition but not allow access to the trunk or glove box. There was a key that would open the trunk but not start the car. And there was a master key that would work on all the locks. Your best bet would be to try the dealer and give him the numbers off the owner's manual or the serial number. Or try a good locksmith, one who has been in business a long time.

"...both the master and valet key would start the car, but the master key would fit the door locks and the trunk and glove compartment lock while the valet key would only operate the door locks and the ignition"

Isn't that what I said?????

And if there weren't 3 different keys why were there spaces for 3 numbers?

My 85 owner's manual lists 3 keys, Master key Supplementary key and Flat key.

keys for 1966 200d 110.110

ok men here is the skinny on my keys, the car was supplied with 3 keys, ignition lock key and it fits the ignition only, door key and it fits both front doors only, third one fits trunk and glove compartment only,so the valet key is a combination of 2 keys and you lock the trunk and glove compartment with your valuables and all is rosy.
hey thanks for the tips on resolving my problem.

Yes, now I think I remember that MB got cleverer later and went to 2 different keys...my mistake, the earlier ones did have some strange combination like that but they later realized that having a key which only starts the car is not really necessary...they combined that one and the door key into the "valet" key with the roundish head which was used from the 1970's until the "smart key"...sorry for my incorrect statement...I was thinking of the later sets.
