Problem with my motor mounds?

Hey guys. I havent been driving my 81 300SD for a month now becuase i havent been able to get the motor mounds replaced. Now that i finally have it back (and boy, does it feel good to have him back) 10% of the vibration noise still exists. My mechanic told me it was the shock absorbers, but he sounded faulty on that. So i come to you guys! Any help would be appreicated. Thanks!

shocking

he was prob talking about the motor mount shocks.... little bitty guys that mount right next to the motor mount. they are pretty cheap and easy to replace. dont know if it will take care of your problem but wont break you if they dont. when you get the old ones off if they feel stiff theyre prob ok so you could send the new ones back for credit.

hmm thanks man. My mechanic showed me the mound, and he was pointing under it saying that these guys(shock absorbers?) needed to be replaced. Thanks again.

Love them mounds...especially when they're "motorized".

There are two parts to the engine mounTs - the rubber mount and the shock absober. One set per side. The transmission mount is comprised of only the rubber mount. I don't think the shocks do much more than stabilize the engine during starting and shut-down. I don't think worn mounts contribute to noise. Broken mounts maybe. Is the air cleaner on tight?

Yes, that is where they're at. And Walmart has them for cheap. Right next to the blue headlight fluid.
