The traps were only put on the 603 engines. The 5 cyl 617 engines were straight exhaust.

Roadside assistance is for ANY Mercedes-Benz sold in the U.S. regardless of age, mileage, or the number of owner's. This is a service for the life of the car.

The entire exhaust system on our '87TD was replaced 8 months before we bought the car, which was in 2003. If this exhaust system last as long as the one on our '83TD, I'll never have to work on the exhaust. My '83 STILL has it's original exhaust system. The mfg date on the muffler is 01/83.

When I sent an e-mail to Prestiege Motors telling them I didn't think 163,000 miles was super low mileage they told me "go screw myself".

Some Prestiege they have. I suppose that's typical for someone from Brooklyn.

Well, Brooklyn might be the epitome of a used car dealer who has little regard for a customer, however, I have found this to be very true in the past in other localites.

Just as soon as you criticize a dealer for misinformation or insufficient information, they immediately turn defensive and, in many cases, become downright insulting.

This gives the potential purchaser a nice warm feeling about the dealer and does wonders for business.

Like I always said, it doesn't take a genius to push metal for a living.

I am not so sure about that.

Prestige Magazine are also crooks! I never got any magazines I ordered and there are others here who never got theirs....come to think, I don't think anyone had gotten any magazine!

Anyway so much for the name "Prestige"

Did anyone notice the sheet rock nails holding the shift console wood panel in place? Look carefully, the whole panel is loose!

Possibly the 617 engines for California had traps, but I know that MB used the traps on the 603s for a short time but due to the problems related to it and not being able to meet CA emission standards of the time, they stop sending the 603 engines here. NY and CA are MB biggest markets. I believe the 603s were only sent here for MY 1986 and 1987.
