This is a Trap Oxidizer - includes free MB removal

Caught this while surfing...............

You might even get a free turbo with the job.

300SDL w/ Trap Ox.

You may get a new turbo and a completely new exhaust system, but the fact that the trap is there doesn't speak too well of the car's service history. If the car EVER saw a mechanic that was familiar with MB diesels, wouldn't he/she have referred the owner to the dealer to get the trap removed?

Speedy,

If my SDL had a trap oxidizer, I would wait as long as possible to get it replaced. That way the repacement exhaust system and turbo, if replaced, would last longer.

You might even get a new engine if you'd wait long enough.

I had this done to my 85 300sd, new turbo and all, but i dint get a new exhaust system, only problem is that i have no power now.
Before i could hear the turbo spool up and feel it, now i cant hear it or feel it. I guess its cause my old trap disingetraged and had no restriction and the new o2 catylist creates a lot of restriction. oh well got a free turbo.

I got rid of mine altogether and swapped in fed version manifolds and turbo. The PO got TO replacement with turbo on my car. I didn't want all that crap in my car anyway.

Is it true that MB will do free roadside assistance on all of their cars?

I think they do it until the warranty runs out.

"I think they do it until the warranty runs out" - what is this in response to, lietuviai? Not roadside assistance, that is perpetual, as long as it looks like a Merc and has a MB VIN# the dealers operate a roadside assistance service vehicle, it can be as simple as providing a little fuel if you run out or a jumpstart if your battery is dead. Of course if it's anything else they will call a tow to carry the car back to the dealer, where it is held captive.
The warranty does not figure into whether or not the trap oxidizer is replaced or not.

Looks like from the pictures that someone did a poor job fixing the rr 1/4 panel and now its rusting out. Who knows what else has been skimped on?
Even the CD changer controller unit in the console is mounted upside down.

Yeah, it was about the road assistance. I think the question was would it be free? I think it is, until the warranty runs out.

Yes, and the engine shows fuel leaks on the intake manifold. Probably needs new seals and return hoses. I wouldn't be surprised if the seller has a fairly high reserve.
My '87 300D came with records from the PO for all the work done at the dealership including the campaign to removed the trap and installed a CAT and a new exhaust line and mufflers. To the tune of $1800 as I recall (factory gets invoiced by the dealer for the charges) and there were still paper stickers on the mufflers when I got it.
My 300D came with the factory window stickers too, it sold for over $38,000 in 1987. Keep that in mind when looking at the SDL, they must have sold for close to $50K!

Yes free gas even. The tow might not be free I am not sure. There is no charge to get a car running if its only fuel filters or something simple. WARRANTY IS NOT INVOLVED!
