I don't believe I ever saw any for $55 but here is a source for $75 rebuilds:

The rebuild is $189.93.

It's the CORE that is $75!

I've bought 3 from this guy: http://www.benz-store.com/cruise_control_amplifiers.html

$155 exchange. I've also bought 2 heater fans from him - $105.

The CC amp is a silver box located just above your knee under the knee panel. 90% of the time it's the amp, though I have also replaced one actuator which his mounted on the engine and controls the throttle.

I've never had success soldering them, though I'm pretty good at it.

The Mercedes CC works very well - I use mine 2 hours a day and love it.

Thumbs up

Of all the items that do not work on my vehicle, my CC amp does.

Repedative failure modes are the bread and butter of electronic servicing. Same as a working mechanic. He could not make a living if he had to seriously troubleshoot everything that came in through the door. If he services say mazdas primarily he is aware of what has probably failed by the nature of the complaint and he has changed fifty times earier on other mazda cars. This is pretty normal in my opinion. If someone took a rebuilt amp apart and listed the parts that were obviously changed most likely the same parts in your defective amp could be changed out by an electronic friend or yourself with some experience at very liitle cost. Probably in say 90% of the cases you would be back in buisiness with an updated amp as well. Just some thoughts.

Anyone have just the speed sensor (Hall effect) go wrong, and the amp was OK! Does the speed sensor have anything to do with the cruise, or just the climate control fan?

I pulled the plug on my amp and plugged it back in and my cruise started working again.......

That tells me that it's dirt and maybe a cold solder joint or two.

That's my experience, your mileage may vary.
