How much would you pay to watch a 617 engine blow a rod???

Thinking of a cool video. How much would you guys pay for a DVD showing an OM 617 Turbo engine run a redline till a rod gets thrown out of the block??

Yes I know it is a sad thought and dememted, but deep down inside you really do want to see it dont you?

To be fair I would also include another engine run the same fate, say maybe a Ford 302 or something like that.

I'll pay $10. for the video, but, only if:

you sit on top of the valve cover while the engine runs at redline.

Thumbs up Two Thumbs up Brian

. I would not pay to view it howerver I would be interested in that the true redline is for a 617 and a 603.

Thats horrible! Don't destroy a 617! Keep them alive forever and as long as possible! I wouldn't mind seeing a ford engine meeting that fate.....they did this on mythbusters with an old GM V8......it didn't really blow though, it did seize....sounded terrible....I have the video somewhere. They did soo much to that engine and just could not kill the thing till they really messed with its lubrication.

But. Let the 617's live. Thats like...engine murder.

Instead of purposefully destroying the engine why not do a more scientific test? Perhaps with different fuel mixtures svo, biodiesel, motor oil etc to test for fuel efficiency, engine oil cleanliness, consumption etc.

Sure, seeing stuff explode is fun but perhaps not a sacred item like the 617.

I'd pay $20 for the DVD. Who knows, I may see one throw a rod myself. I've been running on the "bad" piston pin for 2 years now... far longer than anybody said it would survive.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to save it but it's all about the green (Or the lack of).

I have seen one blow, but from about 50 feet behind at 65mph and I'm in my car getting covered with oil and dodging engine parts. The rod almost hit my windshield. We collected most of the engine parts off the interstate (idiot me picked up the hot rod with bare hands, stupid stupid...) The car is the 83 in my profile. Its new engine is being gone through and should be in by summer.

It was just a joke!

Lighten up fellas, IT WAS A JOKE!

I would NEVER have the heart to destroy one of these engines on purpose. However a Ford V8...........

One of my coworkers has seen a 2 cycle 6 cylinder detriot diesel generator set blow due to runaway. The engine started feeding off of its engine oil and ran way past the design limit. When they do this, they blow into little bitty pieces, they don't just throw a rod.
