The kid pulls into my place today and walks over, car still running and says, "It won't shut off with the key anymore, I have to open the hood and shut it down manually like you showed me". So after a couple of minutes poking around I notice a ground lug with wires just hanging in the air. Hhmmm.. touch it to ground and hear a click and watch the engine turn itself off. Well, one problem down....
On another note, I also noticed distict puffs of fuel shooting up from each injector and went "uh oh..". They were just overhauled and obviously the injector halfs were not tightened. 5 nice spots on the now sagging hood pad. He has an appointment monday morning with the shop that did them (he paid 1k for that and a couple more things they "checked"), no charge to look at them again... I told him I'd have thier asses for lunch, and not to drive the car. Of course he's driving it anyway, which I thought for a minute was a dumb thing to do, then I realized he's got it fully insured and maybe he's better off if it ends up a burning pile of plastic on the side of the freeway. Not so dumb after all....
