Sounds like you are starting up that hill in 2nd gear. There is a switch under the accel. pedal that should start the trans. in 1st if you push the pedal to the floor. This could be malfunctioning. Try starting up the hill with the shift lever in 2nd. How many times does your tranny shift from a dead stop?

I'll bet his kickdown switch isn't working or the pedal is not contacting it...
What rpm is this car upshifting to the next gear accellerating with MORE than 1/2 pedal? If its shifting at 2,500 or lower he needs to adjust the bowden cable....its keeping the engine well below its power band and below when boost comes up.. My W123 was doing that when I got it, that and a plugged up banjo bolt.......  but that was an easy fix.Thats why the guy I bought it from sold it...he just got it and said he hates it, no power ...so sold it to me 2 months after he got it. I knew it was an easy fix when I test drove it.

That's exactly it! The car is in second gear up the hill! I pushed the pedal PAST the carpet for my 0-60 run and while my timing equipment was very crude (a wristwatch), it was very close to the 14 second range that was mentioned.
I felt something click when I pushed past the carpet, haven't looked into it yet, but the car did downshift and acceleration was quite a bit better. I have been starting in second gear! Well, thanks for all the help! I'm still going to check into everything that was mentioned just to be sure I'm at peak performance but this will cure my main issue with the car and I couldn't be happier! Thanks so much everyone, for bearing with me on this!
