That car is about as pristine as is humanly possible. I let all the pictures load, and I'm on dial-up!
But, please tell me something. What on God's green planet earth makes some men think that a gold nugget bracelet is a good look?

I detect a hint of jealousy among members of the shopforum when it comes to the cars this guy has....

Everyone knows these low mileage, perfect condition (well, at least cosmetically) classic MB's are hidden in mythical barn in northern california. They were stockpiled there in the mid to late '80s.

Three items come to mind. My understanding is some vendors make you file feedback prior to your taking the car away. Plus we know some vendors can somehow erase bad feedback as well. Also there are people that stockpile cars and they are eventually sold on the market years later. The most important factor with this car or any like it is that if you take the vin # to any mercedes dealer and he will pull up the service records you should have a valid indication of how many miles were accumulated during warranty period at least. With a little luck will also show work and milage after warranty done at any dealer nationwide. Hope some person that works at a mercedes dealer could verify this as belive i read it somewhere. Perhaps I am wrong though. If I am right it would be a most important tool for checking some cars out that seem to have substandard milage. No sense taking this route for the average high milage example. You would just be a pain to the dealer in my opinion.

My take on this is this guy could find a few hidden gems...but this guy seems to find an inordinate ammount.....maybe he is for real and maybe he has just the right sort of network of people to locate these....but on the other hand...

A old saying always comes to mind in these cases.....if its too good to be true....it usually is.

In my opinion all his cars are legitimate. Someone here stated that a few buyers may not take their cars to a mechanic for an inspection within the 90 days of end of the auction. Well, even if I were to accept that, the fact that those who take their cars for inspection end up ALL leaving him with positive feedback goes on to show that his cars are the real deal.

There's a forum member here who lives just 20 minutes from the man. I've told him many times to go and visit the man and to find out how he gets the cars. Also, even if the man doesn't give full details (his trade secret, I understand), I told the forum member he should express skeptism about the huge number of such cars he sells. Unfortunately that forum member hasn't had the time for that. But one day he will and we will all get to hear what he has to say.

He usually sells BMW and Mercedes, although he does sell others as well. I have seen him sell a lot of "low miles" MB diesels. I asked him if he had any records for this car and he pretended to be offended and told me " with that many miles it was not serviced enough to have records".

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6338&item=4556659945&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

It seems like he makes these "low miles" cars. I think misterdiesel.com might actually be honest about the miles on the cars he is selling since he can prove with service records the true mileage; also he sells some cars with high miles, however not usually. This guy on eBay does not seem to sell any cars with more than 50K. Just curious what you all think about these ridiculously priced MB diesel.
Interesting.....very interesting....

"Single tank vegetable oil system installed."
Knock about $9000 off the price.

Why do people lube up every damn thing including the engine compartment with glossy Armor All; it doesn't look clean, it looks like s**t.

what armor all? I see only a clean engine with new hoses... the dash even looks clean. I have seen armor all treatments, and that don't look AA'd...

the areas i look for are the color of the odometer numbers, where the 282 looks a little whiter than the last 82. i also look at the brake pedal for worn rubber. if it only has 28k on it, then it should look almost mint and have no rubber rubbed away. that car seems to have the corner worn off, which makes me think it had way more miles on it.

New hoses are not shiny, neither is the metal air filter cover

The seller of the $15,000 vehicle in question IS the person who started this thread......

I find it hypocritical to state "Just curious what you all think about these ridiculously priced MB diesel" and then post cars at 3x market rates....

that explains it

I didn't understand the segue from 2005 until today. Thanks for clearing that up. Hypocrisy is never pretty.
