cleaning out the garage

The wife has finally called my hand on this garage cleaning thing. She has been under the impression that I was going to move all this stuff from the garage to the shop. Heck - I'm not going to clutter up my shop with this stuff. She said if I don't get rid of it then it will be going in the trash can. Oh well - here is todays listings. Anybody looking for anything in particular let me know.

More will be posted over the next few days.

Here is the link. I have posted this in parts too and will delete this thread after the sales end.

Here's a tip: start your cheap listings at $0.99 instead of $1.00. It'll save you a dime on the insertion fee for each item.

The same sort of thing applies at other "break points" in the fee schedule - $10, $25, $50, $200, and $500 - but the penalties for stepping over the line are different. When you see an item listed at $50, the seller paid $1.20 more for that listing than if he had started it at $49.99.

Edited to add: Whoops, sorry, that tip doesn't apply here! I didn't realize that you were using reserve prices on all of those $1 auctions. Nothing to see here folks, move along...

Jim, If you get requested for 617 parts you don't have, let me know, I might be able to help out with some. I've got two 617's for parts, one turbo (still together), one N/A (fully dissassembled). Your wife would hate my garage

engatwork,

Isn't the fixed shipping charge on the freon device out of line? I think the actual cost would be fairer.

PE - the freon charging cylinder is going to take a box at least 30" x 13" x 16" and it weights about 15 or 20 pounds. You are right - shipping to somewhere on the east coast the pricing is high but for the left coast it is going to be about right. I should have set it up as actual and will probably adjust it downward (based on where it is shipping to) after the auction ends.

Engatwork,

OK, I couldn't tell by the piks that it was so large and heavy.

If you use USPS priority mail, distance doesn't matter, just the weight. Its like a first classletter. You don't pay extra for 2 or 3 day delivery either like UPS.

PE, weight does matter when using USPS Priority Mail. That is how I send out the holders and shipping varies. Though it doesn't fluctuate much, it does fluctuate with distance. Unless the two post offices I've been using have been hosing me

Thanks
David

David,

The rate for priority mail USPS first pound is $3.85 anywhere in the USA. Then the cost goes up by weight. For this you usually 2 day delivery, but sometimes 3 days and I meam from the west coast to the east coast. UPS for 2 or 3 day delivery is much more.

Once you go over one pound, the rates for Priority Mail start to increase (modestly) with distance, just as David notes. An exception to this is the "flat rate box".

Use the snail-mail Parcel Post. It's far cheaper than USPS Priority Mail and it takes about the same time.

I typically utilize Fed Ex ground. The Fed Ex office is very convienent to where I work and I like to send the buyers the tracking number. I may look into Parcel Post. I had not even considered sending stuff out via USPS.

PE, the holders+box+packaging are more than 1 pounds so that would explain the increases.

Thanks Guys
David

FedEx Ground is my favorite, too.

For really small packages, I use USPS Priority Mail or First Class mail. If it's big enough that Parcel Post looks better than Priority Mail, though, then it goes by FedEx Ground.

Exceptions: USPS for Alaska and Hawaii.
