Virus Alert
I was at the Meimann web link and picked up the following virus
Bloodhound.Exploit.38 It came from 9004_conn_melted If someone knows who owns that website, please let them know. The only way I recovered was thru a disk restore from an earlier time. My Norton Antivirus was unable to remove it. Last edited by dieselbeagel; 06-21-2005 at 10:03 PM. Reason: Show caution sign |

I followed the virus for awhile. It seems to replicate itself into the windows system file. It then takes on the name KB89.... (can't recall). The files then become system files and cannot be deleted.
They seem to be replicating pretty fast. I noticed some of the files were looking for web updates. I quickly disconnected my computer from the web. Efforts to rid my computer of the virus were futile. Forturnately, I have Norton GoBack on my computer. I restored my computer to an earlier time, before the virus infected my computer. If u know which file caused the infection, then u may have a better chance of tracking it. |

If you keep a program such as Adaware Professional running, it has a thing called AdWatch which moniters system registry modifications and can actually block/ask you if you want something to do what it is doing.
Its often been the only way that I could get rid of a fast replicating virus. Also if you can boot off of another hard drive, it makes it a lot easier to go into the other drive, look around, delete files and fix stuff without worrying about programs running and windows saying "no you cannot delete that" I've spent my fair share in the drivers seat of an assult on viral infections...oddly enough...never for my own computer |
