Suitable location for monitoring boost?

I read some articles about adding a boost gauge and am wondering if it is acceptable to measure boost at the brake booster end of the line coming off the rear of the intake manifold? Is that a suitable place? It just seems easier not to have to cut into the hard line coming off the intake manifold.

Thoughts?

Pretty sure the brake booster line comes off the vacuum pump. But yes, the place to measure boost is at the intake manifold, or you can tap into the ALDA line like I will do, as I have no overboost protection valve.

I cut the hard line about 3" before it goes into the overboost switch, then I put in a "T" connector and ran a hose from that all the way down into my console. It was pretty simple and has worked perfectly....under full load I usually get about 10-11psi of boost.

I didn't cut mine, just got a 3 way splitter and added a section of hard tube to the overboost valve.

If you are running a 78-79 300SD intake (pre-egr) there is a threaded fitting in the front that a fitting that comes with the boost guage fits like it belongs there.

That's exactly what I did.
