Question No air from centre vents of my '92 300D

Hi all.

I have previously posted a similar thread, but in the wrong section, it seems.

The middle 2 vents in my '92 300D stopped emitting air, be it hot or cold, E/C or any other setting, even with the fan on high. The side vents are perfect.

Another user mentioned that my vacuum my be at fault, and if so, how can I check this myself. Which tube on the vacuum system controls the centre vents?

Also, how can I remove the vent louvres, or squirrel cage as someone calls them, from the centre vents in the dashboard?

Thanks in advance,

Bjoern

On my 300E,
when I set to max heat, no air comes from center vents, but when set to max cold, air comes out..

Heated air does not come from the center vents. In the transition from heat to cold the door is opened.

In reguard to the original post. You need a wiring and vacuum schematic. It will tell you which switchover valve connects the vacuum to the duct vacuum elements. You will verify the valve is powered from info you get from the wiring diagram. You will verify where the vacuum went by tracing its path using the vacuum diagram.

You will then find out that the problem is probably the center vent element or the defrost vent element. I forget how easy the defrost is but the center vent requires removing the dash and disassembling the top of the evap case. No big deal.
