Windshield pllar trim removal - how?

All;

Going to remove the dash pad in my 1985 300TD to aid in troubleshooting various air flow and A/C issues. Already have the glove box and center console out, along with both under dahs panels.

I know I need to remove the windshield pillar trim, but how? Last thing I want to do is break the fowm/vinyl covering by twisting/bending too much. I've tried prying with a pujtty knife, but it doesn't want to budge.

Appreciate anyone who'd care to share the secret.

Also discovered a bunch of previously installed wiring spliced into the harness running down the steering column. Looks like it is tied into hot and ground wires in various places throughout the harness, and goes to what looks like three substantial relays wrapped in electrical tape. (Guessing on the relays, I haven't worked up the nerve to unwrap the tape yet) Once I deal with the climate control, I'll post back likely looking for an assist on this wiring kludge.

Thanks as always,
Dave

Not sure if there was a great change in 115 v 12x, but you need to gently pry under (like with a few putty knives) the cabin side to raise it above the edging, then yank it towards you. Should pop out of the holder

It comes right out pretty easily usually. Just pry under gently and get a grip on it and pull. You may have to reinsert the door rubber weatherstripping if that pops out somewhere.

It's easy and taking it out easily improves the appearance of the car.

I'm sorry, I thought you meant the trim around the windows on the doors, that plastic stuff. I see you mean something different.... Don't listen to me!
