I am in the process of replacing my front motor mounts. Looking at the oil pan, both sides seem to have transmission lines running along the side.

How should I go about changing the mounts ? I was planning to lift one side of the oil pan, at the seem of the oil pan to the upper oil pan, at a time.

With the tranny cooling lines ruuning along each side, is it okay to support the entire oil pan on a 2 ft x 1 ft x 1" plank ?

How best to approach this ?

Yes, your best bet is to use a sturdy plank big enough to contact the entire bottom surface of the oil pan to distribute the load. When raising the engine, however, you must watch very closely to see that there is no contact between engine and firewall. Also only raise it as high as necessary to keep from stressing such areas as radiator necks and the like.

Using a sturdy plank in the manner u described, does that mean that I would have to do loosen and replace both motor mounts at the same time ?

If so, would the engine move much and do I need to use a drift to align the mount holes ?

i think you can do one at a time. then a drift prob wont be nec.

Remove the bolts on one motor mount and lift. Only that side will come up.
