The last time my screw on filter plugged up my car acted like yours. It lost power and cut out with low fuel levels. Fill up the tank and it would run great. Finally changed it, and it was back to normal, running fine, even when the guage didn't register. The higher head in the tank helps push fuel to the IP through whatever restriction you have....and it is most likely that you do have one somewhere. The advice above is right on - good luck!

Hi All--Been out of town.
Thanks to the bright folks on here, I think I am on top of my problem. Well, actually two problems: 1) Yes, algae in the tank. My biobor arrived today from boaters' world. Once I treat it, do I still need to remove and clean the tank completely? 2) Seemed to be be a loose clamp on the fule line to the back end of the pre-filter. This this what was causing bubbles in the prefilter. The IP was sucking for fuel and taking in air. I tightened that clamp down nicely and no more bubbles. |

Go,
Its not algea, its fungus. Algea grows in the sun and is green, fungus grows in the dark and is brown. You don't have to clean out the tank, but you may have to replace a couple of fuel filters. You do have to clean the tank strainer, though. I used Biobor and only plugged one inline filter and that was a year ago. So it all depends on how much fungus was in your fuel system as to how many filters you have to replace. P E H |
