fan-clutch ??(85 300td wagon)
The engine temp is normal for hours doing 85-90 mph, then I get off the highway and it goes into the red.I start driving again and cools down somewhat.Car has new radiator, expansion tank cap, belts are tight ,and is not low on coolant. Not having dealt with a failed fan-clutch before,I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on the matter before I spend $200 on a new one.
thanks. Last edited by astrosquid; 07-08-2005 at 03:18 PM. Reason: spelling |

It's not unusual for temperatures to rise after exiting from highway speeds, in fact, they always do. This is normal usually and doesn't mean a thing unless it takes more than a minute to begin to drop in engine temp.
What reading does your temp guage say after you exit the highway? |
