1985 300D 5 speed on Ebay

I wonder if this is factory? If it is, it certainly negates all arguments that I have seen about Mercedes feeling that a turbodiesel is not compatible with a 5 speed manual. PS-This is not my car.

Bet if you run the VIN it comes up as an automatic............

Euros did not get a turbo...and the US modles did not get a stick.....

and thats a euro model.

5-speed is pretty rare however, most were 4 speeds....

Nice car but, that fellow has all the makings of a Peach pie seller. Didja see all those 'private' auctions?

Notice also that it has ABS and the ACC? My Euro 240 has ABS and ACC too.

At least the claim is 27 MPG and not 40.

I personally don't like the blue interior. Bamboo or Palomino would be nice with black dash.

Every component is finely balanced. The car performs throughout its speed range ( 0 - 110mph) with extraordinary grace and power. Meticulously maintained - all engine fluids and lubricants are changed every 2500 miles. This machine is tip-top and road-ready. Pick up and drive ANYWHERE in the USA.

Guess his technicians missed the burned out light (instrument panel pic) Is that a 500KM badge on the grill?

Its a Gray Market car, imported, and its non turbo, not anywhere in the auction does he mention the word turbo, I even used the "find" command in FireFox to make sure. Its a normal Euro-5 speed 5cyl NA 300D, my dad remembers driving them when they were new and he said they were a blast. (He's a native German) You can also tell right away from the much smaller euro-bumpers on the car.

Wow, that is a really nicely equipped car for a euro - ABS, ACC, wood, and power stuff. But... its been smacked in the rear; note the US bumper and taillights. And isn't the VIN listed for a wagon? (.153 vice .130)

Cool car. Too bad you'll never get the fish smell out of it.

What's that discoloration by rear jack-point? Shouldn't the VIN be a WDBA123XXXXX type?

That's a steep price for that car. The same money buys a really nice 400E.

Obscure detail alert: That engine has a M-type injection pump (like OM60X engines). Every OM617 engine I've seen over here, both NA and turbo has the MW-type pump, with the vacuum shut-off on the backside.

It's one of those sellers that make me want to puke.

All BS and no facts about the vehicle.

Then a demand for a deposit within 24 hours.

You can take a cab from O'Hare airport.

A documentation fee is added to the final bid.

I will be very pleased when it sits there at the end of the auction with no bids.

Parallel Obscure Detail Alert: My Euro 240 also has an M-type injection pump...quite different from the other pumps on USA-issue OM616s.

Buy it without a PPI at your peril.
