I have been mixing hyraulic oil with my veggie at times, especially in the winter( a bone chilling +40F in the dead of winter, gotta love CA) and it works great. I scored 1000 gallons today from an aviation company, YES!

I have heard that the B100 won't wick up like kerosense does......but then I have that information second hand from this site a few months ago.

Well....kero costs less than diesel in these parts (if you can call 2.50 a deal.....diesel costs 2.77 at gas stations and 2.63 at the farm oil depot in town.)

So, I was thinking of running it in a mixture of maybe one fifth or something. I know I'll be saving like two dollars per tank...but still...I filled up my 240 yesterday and it cost me a little less than thirty bucks for about 12 gallons.

If you're going to do that, I would surely add a little veg. oil for lubricity.

How cheap can you get? Fuel for thought!

A local jet fueling company asked me to dispose of their Jet fuel which is a highly refined kerosene (JP1). We took the fuel and added a fuel treatment that would displace water in a large 485 gallon tank. Ocassionally I drained the lower part of the tank where the water accumulated. We mixed the fuel with Chevron engine oil that is rated for diesel engines at 5% oil and 95% JP1. The cost of the oil was 95 cents a quart. The contaminated fuel is free for hauling it away. The contaminant is water.

At one pick up I saw an employee putting Avgas into the JP1 container and ceased using their JP1. This program will work if you can be assured of the JP1 intregity.

Alright....what if I use waste engine oil....I'm changing my oil in another 300 miles...could I maybe mix in a quart of that, along with the kero?

I have another question related to this subject; decided not to spam the boards with another thread.

How should I clean the waste oil before pouring it into the tank?

My father suggested using a coffee filter (not sure how I'd go about it, but I guess I could figure it out)

what do you guys do? Or do you just dump the S*** into your tank and let the fuel filter take the heat?

Glinko,

Filter bags are available from www.greasel.com. Run the WVO thru the filter bags before it is put into the fuel tank.

I also rigged a 5 gallon bucket with a spigot about 1.5 inches from the bottom. The WVO is put in this bucket an allowed to sit until the solids settle to the bottom. Then the spigot is opened and the WVO is filtered thru the filter bags. I use the settled crap and bottom oil in a wood stove in my garage for heat in the winter.

The settling process isn't necessary but it makes the filter bags last much longer.

I was referring to the waste oil that I drain out of the engine.

Thank you for your help and advice, anyway I appreciate your kindness.

Glinko,

I use engine oil in the fuel too. I filter that thru some filter paper I have. The coffee filters might work for you. I suppose you could use a filter bag from greasel for used engine oil too.

I've been using used engine oil for more than a year now and haven't plugged one of the filters in the car. I only use about a 5% mix, though. That way there isn't any visable smoke.

I'm planning on dumping about 14-15 quarts into half a tank, I'm trying to make a smoke machine... tailgater's worst nightmare.

Oh man, this is gonna be awesome.

Nope, I tried it to no avail, now my wick is bad. Oh BTW it won't work in Zippo's either.
