Help Please - 92 300SD window problem

DRAT! I was warned, but my arrogance and desire overwhelmed my logic.

Windows:

Front (both sides) the automatic up/down feature not working. When holding the button down the window retracts in sporadic movements. To get the window back up, I have to push the button repaetedly until the window finally closes, the window goes up about a half to one inch per push of the button. Same process to open/close the rear windows.

I saw a thread awhile back that dicussed a similar problem and mentioned a possible reset mode? Now that I need it I can't seem to find the thread...tried a search to no avail.

Any advice / suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a computer and/or relay issue, I'm not exactly sure how those auto-windows work, I'm assuming the car computer triggers a relay, so the relay could be going bad, which would explain sporatic/unreliable movements.

Window Problem Solved

What a relief... I'm settling down from a W140 anxiety attack.

I successfully reset the windows. Please see below:

Reset mode.

Press the window lifters button only half way down, it is two stages on every switch, first activates the window, next activates the comfort function.

Reset window as follows.
Press first stage on desired window down wards, and hold, when window is in lower position; keep holding the switch in 10-15 seconds.
Then press the upward side of the switch and hold at stage one until window closes entirely, keep pressing in 10-15 seconds.

Repeat operation on every window.

Many thanks to Simen :)
