I think its unfortunate when a manufacturer has to use it's past to try and sell it's present.
Boy, I don't get this comment at all....Why wouldn't a manufacturer present its history-espeically if it's a proud history like MB?? Isn't that a part of what makes a Mercedes so special?

For you, it probably would be a waste of time to ever visit the Mercedes Benz museum in Stuttgart.

"Faithful" as it is aptly called, is the best compilation and exploitation of original owners and their proud experiences with their cars. It chokes me up everytime when I see that 280 take off towards the horizon. It makes me think of mine, and how not a single one has ever let me down in the 100's of thousands of miles I've driven through the years.

I also prefer "production line". Notice how Mercedes didn't start assembling things by robots until the 210 body.

Advertising the past only makes me more thankful for what I already own.

I love the "Timeless" SL one. The scenes are so period. Also this Cadillac one.

Wolfpack.
Actually a visit to the Mercedes Museum is very high on my list if I ever get to Germany. I mean simply that the deterioriation of Mercedes in recent years is, in my opinion, highligted by their glorious past as protrayed by the historical models in their ads. I believe the new cars are charachterless, bland and uninspiring, and difficult to sell on their own merits, hence the reliance on the past in their ads. Deflect attention away from they inferior mongrels they have become.

The new ML-Class is amazing. I drove the new ML500 at a Mercedes event locally here and am really impressed. It blows the current ML right out of the water. The build quality looked great as well, they are driving screws instead of plastic pins in many areas.

I don't know if it's good or bad that a commercial about the cars I drive can stir my emotions.
