Do 55 gal. drums fit in the trunk?
 

OK never a dumb ? right..
I found a place to get 55 gallon drums for $20 per. to filter WVO...
These are big things, so anyone know if they fit anywhere in a 300D?
In the trunk?
On the roof?

Nope they won't fit into a 300SD (and assuming D either) trunk, the trunk is physically big enough, but the opening isn't. I found this out when I bought a metal 55 gallon drum and tried to fit it in the trunk of the car after I brought it home in the van. This was to see if it would fit...I was disappointed. It does fit in the back seat of the car though! :D :D At least in an SD it does. Maybe with a plastic drum you could "squash it" into the trunk and make it go in there, then it would fit....but a metal one is no go...and its only a few inches too big! :rolleyes:

Forget it. Try looking for a tank from a boat salvage yard.

A 30 gallon plastic drum might fit. I know 15 gallon totes will. Both are a little rarer to find than 55 gallon drums, but a lot of detergents (car wash, and even dish) come in the 15 gallon size.

On the roof?! That would be a little awkward.... you wouldn't want a 55 gallon drum of fuel to come loose at highway speed from wind resistance :eek: . Is that even legal?

makeshift/strange idea:

You could take three standard 5 gallon diesel containers....fit them together side by side with ductape all around it (everywhere, use 6 rolls:D) and drill holes into the bottoms of the side of each can with a connecting tube/pipe so the fuel can all flow from tank to tank as one large tank.....and make sure its all sealed up, then you have a perfect, yellow & ductape "tank" Redgreen Style. :D

You can carry a 55 gallon drum in the trunk of 300D. But you can not close the trunk lid. Take along a couple of bungee cords to hold the lid down and you are good to go. Now will you send me a couple cubes of that nice clean, slightly used soy oil from that Japanese Restaurant. I do have a problem picking up enough grease in central Indiana. I think I might have a look in some of the smaller towns.

I'd look around if I were you here in NY you can buy clean drums for $2.00 each

Whoa, that's way too much to pay, should be able to get a clean drum for around $10 if not less. There are a couple smaller sizes but they may take some looking for. Plastic barrels are usually cheaper and they are easier to find, don't get white ones though because they get brittle really quick..... blue seems to last the best but all colors last pretty well.

Ever see a fully loaded 55 gallon drum on the middle of a M/B roof?

If so, please take a photo. ;)

1; I'm talking about bringing home an empty drum after buying it; not a drum full of fuel or oil or any high explosives; so I won't have pictures for anyone.
2; You can get good pizza in NY too; but down here people are crooks and don't think 2x about ripping off their brother if they can get an extra .50 for it.

There were 2 listing in the Y pages for oil companies one wanted $20. the other $25.; so I'll keep tryin'. A smaller drum sounds like a good choice maybe 35 or 40 gal.

I need a couple too, I need to look more seriously locally..to set up a biodiesel processor.

I can fit my 30 gallon drum in the back, after removing the seat cushion. No way will a 55 gallon go in the trunk, maybe the 30 gallon one....upright.
