Best place to buy W123 Euro Lights

Ringing in late here. Wanted to share my experiences with y'all....

W123 series European lights come in two styles. One style has round
reflectors and the other has rectangular reflectors. The latter is often
referred to as the 'panorama' style. Having tried both on my car I have
not detected a difference in their performance.

The European corner lights do not have a reflector built into the lenses.
There is no provision for a standing light in the bulb holder. Two wires
and a single filament bulb holder. FYI

Last year I won an online auction for a pair of the panorama style lights.
The winning bid was less than $200. I had to return the lights for two
reasons. One is that they were of poor quality (made in Asia) and
the other is because they did not include the vacuum element to aim
the main reflector.

Asian H4 lights are far better than sealed-beam lights on any night.
OEM Bosch or Hella lights are superior in quality, and priced accordingly.

They should be the same plugs as the taillights, so, the part numbers should be good.

Report back if they are correct. This was from a couple of years ago.
Nope, No cigar, Brian!
I ordered and received the plugs you advised and am dissappointed to announce that they don't fit Euro headlights! They are too wide at the ends to fit, I figure someone must have intended them to be uncompatible with DOT approved headlights.

The ones you advised are not the fold-over type, they are of the conventional type with a snap on cover that Mercedes has used for decades.

I have access to a car with Euro headlights so I took a plug loose and examined it. It has the number 29754 molded in it. I find it odd that it doesn't have a conventional 124-XXX-XX XX type number on it anywhere.

The fold-over Euro plugs have a small tri-star molded in the plastic too, so these don't look like an aftermarket plug or from another application.

I believe I'll call PUMA tomorrow and speak with them. They supplied the other Euros that have the correct plugs, it was part of a GB here, remember?

Sorry about that Reid. It's information that I have from Dave from awhile ago. I'll take another look to see what that plug might be. I definitely purchased it for the Euros for the W126. I thought that was the plug, but apparently it's different.

No problem, Brian
The difference is small, just a little less in width, allowing it to fit the Euro headlites. PUMA is presently backordered on these, I'll call them next week to order (unless I find some locally)

Just heard from Dave, he suggests using p/n 011-545-50-28 "same connectors used on the W124 rear tail light!" Hmmm, I'll have to check these out.
PS. I'm sorry if I hijacked this thread, it was initially addressing the diffrences in W123 Euro headlights. I always wanted a set of Euros for my 123's but wound up using Carellos on one car, AutoPals on another and Auteroch or Bosch on the others. ANYTHING but DOT headlights is a worthwhile improvement. Euro H4s are the best on 123's or 124's and/or 126 cars for that matter so its sort of a broad subject, isn't it?

Resurrecting an old thread to warn people that Import Visions has had many complaints about their product and service. I have posted on the California shops forum and don't feel like they deserve to be recommended any longer.

Here is a further update on Import Visions: turns out this guy Ken is shady nine ways from Sunday. He puts up several storefronts on ebay and is in trouble with paypal on a couple of his accounts.

Beware of him doing *business* as : EvolutionUSA , SoCallightingUSA, socalvwaudiparts and of course Import Visions.

I just settled a claim with paypal and was able to get my money back but my advice is stay far away, I was lucky!

Thanks for the heads up. I just put this in my favorites for future reference, will delete them. Good ol` E-bay, who would of thunk it?

If these crappy chineese lights don`t work out I just put in, I was thinking of their Euro lights. Oh Well.

How do you like the Autopals? I got a set of 7" ones, cheap on eBay several years ago, to experiment with. But wound up not installing them.
Meanwhile I got a set of Bosch Euro lights to replace the broken Hella units that came on my Euro '84 TD. I may decide to install the Autopals on my '82 US 240D.

Also, has anyone, that lives in an area that has annual safety inspections, ever had a problem getting the Euro lights or the H4 to pass?

Happy Motoring, Mark
