First long Trip with new Engine

Finally got around to taking the SDL on a long trip since replacing the engine in December.. I have been itching to do it, but due to various things, have never been able to take it.. I drove to my parents house on Weds which is a little over 300 miles of Interstate driving.. I have to say I am impressed.. The old engine had a top speed of 84 MPH. Thats it.. I easily had this one at 90 and still had room to go. I drove the entire trip at solid speeds of 70-80mph and averaged 25mpg.. I don't think that is bad since the engine only has about 5000 miles on it yet.. Now to get the Cruise Control fixed....

Your top speed should be about 130 in the 350SDL.

I wish that were true. But they're limited to 115, and SHARPLY cut power off around 111 mph.

When you get these diesels up to higher speeds, and you come near their set governed rpm, the acceleration drop feels like a tap on the brakes. The car(ALDA) is telling you "Hey, that's fast enough!". Even if they feel like they're still pulling strong. Once you've hit that limit, no more juice to be goosed.

Oh yeah. Make sure the engine isn't "green", too.

We are just waiting for the warranty to expire on the engine so we can tweak it a little to improve acceleration. I don't want to touch anything that would void the warranty..
