What would be a fair price to sell my manual transmission conversion kit ?
Hey,
Since I just sold my 240D I will need to sell my conversion kit as well. I am wondering what would be a fair price to ask for something like that.. ? I have every bolt and nut needed to accomplish the full conversion. I will name the big parts ...... The car had 160K miles on it and was driven by an 85 year old in Minnesota (some of you guys might remember me driving up there to pick up the car) I have the cluster to prove the mileage and I have pics of the car as well (prior to me taking everything apart) Transmission (4 speed) Driveshaft Shifter assembly Pedals Brand New Clutch with new pressure plate (never installed 250 bucks) Brand new release bearing (never installed) Brand new shift boot (never installed) Transmission Cross-member Fly wheel Bolts necessary for everything!!! Tranny Mount Flex Disks Hoses (I would replace the one that goes from the brake cylinder) 50 cent part Anyway, I am forgetting things but I have it all. I specifically bought a low mileage 240D for the transmission but I have no use for it anymore as I drive a 5 speed 190D What should I ask for something like this ? The normal wear and tare parts I bought cost me 250 so I atleast have to cover that.... How much should I charge for shipping ? The transmission is tiny and does not weigh a whole lot (probably as much as an inflated tire with a rim) Any suggestions ? Ebay ?

Cost me about $600 five or six years ago from a salvage yard. That included some new parts, i.e. clutch, but I also probably spent another $200 or so buying other new parts from the dealer, things like flex disks, new boot, pedals, etc.

The very best man trans conversion kit is an ENTIRE car with complete trans setup. There always seems to be some little something that you forget to take off the donor car.
Given todays parts car prices I would think you could get a parts car for less than the numbers you mention, but I don't know that. Good luck, |
