Interior Trim Repair

I have a rip in a vinyl door panel that I need to repair. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hey,
I was thinking about this too.
This topic has come up before. One suggestion was to just take it all off and leave it off.

My idea was to replace the vinyl. Those door panels come off pretty easy. I was thinking of taking it off and using spray glue to put on new vinyl.

Just to narrow things down, I want to repair the tear. My question, I suppose, is really "What should I use?" There are various vinyl repair kits and adhesives for sale. I was just wondering if anyone had good results with any particular product.

I bought a vinyl repair kit from JC Whitney a little while back (1986  ) If I get around to using it someday I'll let you know.

Most of the vinyl repair kits are very good considering they are not very expensive. Some thoughts - repairing a whole larger than a nickle, they don't perform well. Same with tears longer than 2". MB Grey and Black are very easy colors to mix a perfect match. Blue is very hard, but I do have the formula posted over in detailing.

And I have a book entitled "Overcoming Procrastination." I'll send it to you if I ever get around to reading it.

Thanks. Fortunately it's just a clean tear. No missing material.

Unless you are experienced doing this kind of repair, you will most lilekly find your result to be unsatisfactory. Get an estimate from several experts on doing it properly, and consider if you can afford it. It may not be as expensive as you think. It cost me $40.00 CDN to have a tear repaired professionally.

A professional repair is almost invisible. An amateur repair, will most likely look amateurish.

How about locating a used door planel from a wrecking yard? Check the parts forum for private sources as well. You might not need the whole panel, just the part that's torn.
