Footwell heater flap linkage

All;

Local M-B dealer can't (or won't) assist, so I'm turning to the collective members of the forum.

While working to pull the old leaking vacuum element pod which controls heated air to the footwells, I heavy-handed the plastic cross-bar linkage, and broke the mounting post (the piece which actually passes through the hole in the metal actuator arm of the vacuum element). I used a long-set epoxy, but the plastic material is such that it didn't form a good bond. I may try JB Weld next...

According to the dealer, the only way to obtain a replacement cross-bar linkage is to order the complete heater box.

Does anyone know of a source from which I may be able to purchase just this plastic cross-bar linkage?

Thanks in advance
Dave

P.S. For future reference, what is the best procedure to finesse these connections apart? The plastic "nipple" which passes through the hole in the element actuator arm is cut so that you can squeeze it back together to aid removal, but it still seemed nigh on impossible.

Exclamation

IF you are talking about a W124 chassis then the dealer is correct???!!!???

You will have to construct your own linkage!
