Now this is sad...

It dropped a valve apparently. Heck I've seen a few 603 long blocks for $1600 complete intake to oil pan, that car could have been back on the road for $2000 with some elbow grease.

That is sad.
There are so few of these vehicles made, it's always a bad day when you see one of them go like this. That one was gorgeous with the color combination. What a dork. |

I didn't see any accidents, core support was like new, no rust, paint has a nice sheen to it(looks original).
I don't get it. If the car was a truly nice car, why would he part it out? I second this: Quote:

That guy is like 2.5 hours away from me. I may have to buy it and give it to the salvage yard in Falmouth just so the parts are at least available to us in the future. I can't stand the thought of it going to the crusher.
If I can get it for $10 I may just do that. I hope I can convince Bernard to send the rollback to get it. |

If you had the space and the ability, you could have a nice SDL for next to nothing. Say the vehicle is $100...
Complete, nice interiors are $450-600 depending on the days you ask. I assume that just depends on how they're doing for the month. Used 722 trans are ~$100 here with a warranty not to slip. This motor (for an idea), plus used accy's... $2500 I'd guess, but that's on the high side to me. 603 Motor $500 for misc stuff - motor mounts, vac tubing, cleaner, etc.

Seeing that really makes a Mercedes fan feel very glum.
A real shame. I would say it is beyond "restoring" however. It would cost big $$$$ to get this car back on the roads. Note that the drivers door is removed/missing. If it has been off for a long time, it is likely that the floor pans have rusted out. Also- the instrument panel looks to be been subjected to the weather for a very long time. I would imagine that the wiring is ruined. Speaking of wiring, it looks like a bunch of spaghetti, as if whoever was removing parts, were not taking and care in removing anything. Just looking at all of the work it would take just for the instrument panel - well...... It does appear to be a super parts car though. |
