Nothing really on the SDL just super basic stuff like oil changes ect. Not to much yet with the SD but next week I will do the oil cooler lines.

Since I have two now I will try and do all of my projects during the season when the car is down. For the SDL I have like 3-4 major projects this winter. (sunroof rebuild, trans and driveshaft work, Ip rebuild, front end rebuild ect) The SD will get what it needs in the summer.

Not really a lot to be boast about, considering the minimal amount of the automotive work I have done so far this summer, but there is still a lot of summer here- what- about 6 weeks or so officially? As you can tell, I am not very good when it comes to doing anything major on cars, so I will probably not have a lot to report.

Me:
Changed the rear shocks on my Suburban
Changed the spark plugs on the Suburban
Helped my dad put new rod bearings in my Caprice

Thats all.

Since my dad helped me on some of my cars and I helped him, I will also list what he has done as well.

Dad:
Finished restoring his 69' Camaro (but he will always be doing something to it)
Put new rod bearings in my 69' Caprice
Did some paint work on his Nissan truck
Installed universal joints on my Suburban
Installed new brakes on my Suburban
Installed new brakes on mothers Oldsmobile

I am sure I am leaving something out, but this was about it.

I try like H%$L to avoid direct cussing. Even today when I stripped the threads on two oil cooler lines and the cooler is not junk in my '87 300D project I didn't utter a single bad word or think a bad thought. I also removed the water pump and the fan assy and painted the fan, and started on the bushings (I'm bushed!)
RE: clergymen .
Maybe they just went away but lets not forget how many priests have been discharged (excommunicated or whatever) in the past few years due to people rising up and asking religious institutions (churches in particular) to take action against sexual predators that hide behind the cloth. My ex-wife was one of the abused. Until you hear it from someone you know you don't really understand the nature of that side of life.

Well, I didn't do much myself, except lubricate a few cables, linkages, rods, and catches that probably hadn't been relubed since June 1982, tightened up a few bolts, stuffed my driver's side seat with a pool noodle, did some A/C duct work, installed a manual antenna, installed a zebrano shift knob and wheelskin and although I didn't do the following items myself, I had an oil and filter change done with Mobil 1 15W-50 last month, a nice detailing provided me with a shiny 300D for a few weeks, and flushed the cooling system out and refilled with proper MB coolant and a bottle of Redline Water Wetter. I had new front rotors and pads installed today, and I found out that I had Kleen Wheels on my brakes!! I had them removed of course. I don't mind cleaning some brake, but I do mind having warped brakes and decreased safety.

I'm not quite done yet though, I am going to install a 125 mph speedometer with a working odometer in a few days, maybe paint the needles back to their original orange, install a retaining bracket for my newly acquired manual antenna which looks quite good I must say, and install a new latch on my glove compartment door, which is being held up now with duct tape. Other possible projects before school begins include... installing pool noodles in the back seat and passenger's seat, some more A/C duct repair, "reyellowing" the fog lights, clean the engine bay out and painting the grille black.

'83 Euro 300D:
1) Install sport steering wheel
2) Remove rear springs, replace with wagon rear springs - - stiffer, and purportedly shorter - - makes the rear-end ride a little high, have to switch them back. Noticably firmer ride, with less body roll; may just have one coil removed and try them again.
3) Install Bilstein HD shocks in rear
4) Install Euro headlights
5) Replace RF wheel bearings
6) Change tranny fluid
7) Install brake anti-sqeal shims at all four corners
8) Install BMW sport seat from the other sedan

That's it so far. The fam is heading for Minnesota next week, so it should be a banner week for me in the garage!

Thanks, again, to everyone who has helped me out with info on any/all of these projects!

Jay.

Swapped a head on my 280Z with a performance turbo cam installed. Hello power band!

Replaced a clutch on the Subaru Outback, PITA!

Not a dang thing on my 240D turbo, running great. I did, however, build a biodiesel processor. Two weekend trips in the Benz on homemade fuel, $0.60 a gallon!

show and tell

-300TD Turbo Wagon-

Work that I did:

1) Replaced the rear suspension's hydropneumatic pressure cannonballs, SLS flush and filter replacement
2) Changed the oil
3) Tranny fluid and filter
4) Fuel filters
5) Valves Adjusted
6) New air filter
7) Rust treatment and painting around the battery area
8) LOTS of pressure washing
9) Installed a skid pan from the parts car!! (what a find)

**EDIT** 10) Brake pads, rotors, and fluid flushed

Work other people did:

1) Oil undercoating

Work I still have to do:

1) Fix odomedter
2) Power steering flush and filter
3) Parallel heated fuel system with backflushing and seperate tank opposite the spare tire for veg.
4) maybe some sort of IP or injector work?? Running a little smokey, white, seems like it wants fuel, still smokes dark when i floor it
5) "zero time" engine rebuild...sleeves, pistons, rings, bearings, valves?... sometime (hopefully a long time) in the future

**EDIT** 6) Install Espar coolant heater before winter
