A/C compressor bolts....
Hey guys,
I just spent the day replacing my belts. I have read various posts regarding a/c compressor bolts and belt adjustments. Rather than hex bolts on my compressor, I have Torx headed bolts....and, of course, I had to spend part of the day (and $35) acquiring a Torx set. My compressor had a sticker that stated it was a rebuilt unit, maybe they changed the bolts then? Does anyone else have Torx headed bolts on their a/c compressor. ....just wondering.... Keith

Your original compressor was probably SAE threaded (with appropriate SAE bolts, early 80's) and when it was replaced by the rebuilt (with the newer Delco Harrison, mid 80's-on, metric thread) the bolts had to be replaced with metric and the fancy Torx ones was what was available at that time in that size. Good guess?
Or the bolts just got lost when they were doin it

I think the new bolts may have made the job a little easier.....I've read some threads on how difficult the hex bolts were to get at. I couldn't find a single driver that would fit....so I had to buy a whole set of them at Sears for about $35. I'll put the rest of the set in my "useless tools" drawer. :-)
