YES! A guy in nearby town owns a 2?0E with a stick, and it uses teh gas.

However, take a look around. Most of the 123's you'll find are diesels. Either more of them were made or the gassers went to ****e a little quicker, I'm not sure which.

aww that engine looks so cute in there!

i bet its pretty easy to work on everything, it looks smaller than a 240 engine(but 2.3 v. 2.4 isnt a big difference, huh?)

in the era of the 123

mb sold 80% diesel. so not many gassers around. 250s with carb. 280s with carb. a few 230s with carb. prob a few 230s with stick early on. later 280es. the later cars none had sticks with gas in us. all above comments regard us models. in europe most were sticks i think. they are sweet with sticks. i had a 123 euro 280e with fiver. it had a 3.69 rear end which was not usual. the 3.54 was usual i think. i got 23ish on hiway, 17ish in town. sweet car though. they shift very well. i would stay away from carb cars personally. unless they have weber conversions.

yes

it is a later model 230 right? with the engine like in our 190. they sold a 230 engine 123 i think, perhaps that was a 115 body, but it had the single ohc engine like the 250 but with four cylinders. and carb. yours would be sweet. what year is yours?

I thought MB switched the majority if not all of their (gas) engines to injection by the late 70's? My dad used to drive his dad's 280e in the late 70's in germany and it was fuel injected....the one his dad had before that was a carb though....and he says the power difference was enormous...

actually the car was the service wagon for our mercedes repair shop, the owner was going to junk it after he bought a 2000 ML320, i couldn't let that happen, so i took it as my own. as for the blue stripe, it is gone, i am still regretting that i removed it, i think it gave the car some character,

Yep, Ray's '85 230TE is a very nice & rare example of one of the last w123's in production.....M102 4-cyl petrol (2299cc w/ Bosch CIS) 136hp; 3.69 rear; and his has some rare options too such as HD suspension...

The regular carburated gassers were phased out in April of 1980. The fuel-injected M102's had better gas mileage and ran smoother than the carb ones. In fact, these W123 M102's were basically the same as the (W201) 190E's M102 block and design.

Nice ride Ray!!
