R-12 Capacity 1978 300SD:

My decal is missing, so I wanted to ask someone if they knew what the refrigerant capacity is on my 1978 300SD.

Thanks...Robert

I think my 116 was 2.8? I'm not positive but I would think with you being an MB mechanic don't you have easy access to such information?

Thanks
David

I don't work for the dealer any longer, but I do stop by and visit from time to time. They have liquidated a lot of service information on the older cars. Thanks for the tip!!!...Bert

Herr Doktor-

My W116 sticker has almost peeled off as well. Its only half there and flapping in the breeze. I took it off for now and pasted it in my manual.

But it reads 1.0 kg of R-12. Mine is an '80 with an R4 compressor.

Again, many thanks for your help with the transmission. I have it moving and shifting as far and second gear. I fixed my brakes- now the water pump ist kaput. I'll be on that this weekend and hope to test it more thoroughly.

Rick

The Haynes Air Conditioning Manual states 42 oz. refrigerant and 5.8 oz. refrigerant oil capacities (automatic system).
